Effect of Zn addition on the corrosion behaviours of as-cast BCC Mg-11Li based alloys in NaCl solution

Chuanqiang Li et al.

Summary: The effect of zinc on the corrosion behaviors of Mg-11Li-xZn alloys in NaCl solution was investigated. The results showed that the corrosion resistance of the alloys increased with the increase of zinc content. Filiform-like corrosion occurred at the early stage, and pitting corrosion appeared in some alloys with immersion time. Small amounts of zinc could reduce the corrosion rate, while excessive zinc accelerated the corrosion.
