Development and evaluation of photon-counting Cd0.875Zn0.125Te0.98Se0.02 detector for measuring bone mineral density

J. Byun et al.

Summary: Cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) has shown excellent performance in medical applications, such as improving image quality and dose efficiency. A study has demonstrated that Cd0.875Zn0.125Te0.98Se0.02 (CZTS) is a viable option for calculating bone mineral density (BMD) and diagnosing osteoporosis.

Growth and characterization of detector-grade CdMnTeSe

J. Byun et al.

Summary: The Cd0.95Mn0.05Te0.98Se0.02 (CMTS) ingot was grown using the vertical Bridgman technique at low pressure, resulting in high resistivity wafers that show potential as room-temperature semiconductor detectors. The CMTS planar detector exhibited a resistivity of 1.47 x 1010 U$ cm and an electron mobility lifetime product of 1.29 x 10-3 cm2/V. Spectroscopic evaluation with Am-241 and Co-57 demonstrated an energy resolution of 11% for the 59.5 keV gamma-ray of Am-241 and clear distinction of the photo-peak at 122 keV gamma-ray from Co-57. This study establishes CMTS as the world's first detector-grade material and confirms its potential as a room-temperature radiation detector.

The 1.1, 0.8 and 0.55-0.60 eV deep bands in detector-grade CdMnTe studied by photoluminescence spectroscopy

Aneta Wardak et al.

Summary: This study presents low-temperature photoluminescence spectra of Cd0.95Mn0.05Te grown by the Bridgman method, focusing on three deep energy bands and their implications for the material's resistivity in nuclear detector applications. The research confirms the role of a deep intrinsic donor level at 0.8 eV and suggests two interpretations for the origin of the 0.55-0.60 eV PL band. The correlation between crystal chemical composition, resistivity values, and photoluminescence results is also discussed.
