Fully Metallic Dual-Polarized Luneburg Lens Antenna Based on Gradient Parallel Plate Waveguide Loaded With Nonuniform Nail

Jiashan Liu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel fully metallic multibeam Luneburg lens antenna that can support the radiation of horizontal polarization (H-pol) and vertical polarization (V-pol) simultaneously, with high peak gains. Experimental results demonstrate its potential for application in MMW multibeam and multipolarization systems.

An underwater planar lens for broadband acoustic concentrator

Fuyin Ma et al.

Summary: A sub-wavelength underwater acoustic metasurface unit was designed, and a gradient-index three-dimensional planar underwater acoustic lens was constructed by arranging multiple units. An acoustic concentrator that enhances sound energy was also proposed.

Compact Half-Luneburg Lens Antenna Based on a Glide-Symmetric Dielectric Structure

Oskar Zetterstrom et al.

Summary: In this letter, a planar half-Luneburg lens antenna based on a glide-symmetric dielectric structure is presented. It provides a compact alternative to traditional Luneburg and Rotman lenses, as well as pillbox antennas. The antenna has a peak gain comparable to a conventional Luneburg lens antenna, despite being smaller in size. It can steer its beam within a 50 degrees range with low scan losses and side lobe levels.

Two-Dimensional Glide-Symmetric Dielectric Structures for Planar Graded-Index Lens Antennas

Jose-Manuel Poyanco et al.

Summary: In this study, a 2-D glide-symmetric dielectric periodic structure was proposed and studied, showing a widened bandwidth of operation and lower effective refractive indices compared to non-glide configurations. These properties are beneficial for producing graded-index lens antennas. A Luneburg lens operating in the K- and K-a-bands was designed and manufactured with conventional additive manufacturing, demonstrating a low-cost and low-profile potential for future wireless communications.

Anisotropic glide-symmetric substrate-integrated-holey metasurface for a compressed ultrawideband Luneburg lens

Qiao Chen et al.

Summary: An anisotropic unit cell based on glide symmetry is proposed for tailoring a metasurface that engineers an optically transformed Luneburg lens, resulting in a reduction of 25% in lens size and coverage of multi-octave frequency bands. The proposed lens is ultrawideband and is achieved using substrate-integrated-holes technology.
