Electromagnetic vibration energy harvester using magnetic fluid as lubricant and liquid spring

Jun Yu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an electromagnetic VEH using magnetic fluid (MF) as lubricant and liquid spring, which replaces traditional mechanical or magnetic springs with a liquid spring with variable stiffness coefficient. Planar coils and helical coils are used together to harvest the vibration energy, thereby broadening response frequency, improving energy harvest efficiency, and reducing VEH volume and damping.

Dynamic analysis and design of power management circuit of the nonlinear electromagnetic energy harvesting device for the automobile suspension

Minghui Yao et al.

Summary: A nonlinear electromagnetic energy harvester (EMEH) for automobile suspension is designed in this paper. The magnetic flux density and magnet repulsive force are determined by finite element analysis. A dynamic model of a quarter car with the nonlinear EMEH under random road excitation is established. The influence of structure parameters on output characteristics of the nonlinear EMEH is studied. It is found that higher road class and car speed result in better output characteristics of the nonlinear EMEH. Additionally, the introduction of nonlinear magnet repulsive force significantly improves the output power compared to the linear EMEH.
