E. Hannachi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the radiation shielding properties of SrTiO3 (STO) doped with different amounts of WO3 nanowires. The addition of WO3 nanowires improves the attenuation performance of the synthesized ceramics, resulting in an almost 100% radiation protection efficiency. For the energy of 0.662 MeV, the radiation protection efficiency varies between 31.95% and 38.58% for STO with 2-10% of WO3 nanowires.

Radiation attenuation attributes for BaO-TiO2-SiO2-GeO2 glass series: a comprehensive study using Phy-X software

Mohammad Ibrahim Abualsayed

Summary: The radiation-shielding attributes of six glass samples with BaO-TiO2-SiO2-GeO2 compositions were examined. The findings showed that the transmission factor reduces as the glass thickness increases, improving the radiation protection efficiency. Glass containing more GeO2 is more effective at blocking incoming radiation. The tenth value layer varies with energy and the addition of GeO2 lowers it for BTGS0 glass.

Kefayat Ullah et al.

Summary: Novel visible-light photocatalyst TiO2-FG/Sr-hexaferrite nanocomposites were fabricated using a simple hydrothermal technique, and their properties were analyzed using various techniques. The unique composite catalyst showed superior photocatalytic properties for the disintegration of organic dyes under visible-light irradiation due to the synergistic effect of TiO2-FG and the fast conducting path provided by the graphene surface. The ternary structure between TiO2, FG, and Sr-hexaferrites also contributed to the high photocatalytic behavior.

Structure and radiation-shielding characteristics of BTO/MnZnFeO ceramic composites

E. Hannachi et al.

Summary: This study synthesized novel BTO/MnZnFeO ceramic composites via cost-effective and environmentally friendly approaches, and evaluated their crystal structure and shielding performance against gamma radiation. The X-ray diffraction results showed no chemical reaction within the MnZnFeO and BTO phases in the bi-phasic ceramic composites. The size of the crystallite decreased with increased MnZnFeO content. The experiments demonstrated the improved attenuation parameters of the BTO/MnZnFeO ceramic composites, including linear attenuation coefficients, half-value layer, average tenth value layer, and radiation absorption ratio. These composites performed well in shielding gamma radiation with photon energy lower than 100 keV.
