Physical, optical and spectroscopic characteristics investigation for doped Dy3+borate glass matrix

Hammam Abdurabu Thabit et al.

Summary: A series of alkaline earth and tellurium bearing borate-based glasses loaded with Dy2O3 were prepared and their physical, optical, and photoluminescence properties were analyzed. The addition of Dy2O3 improved the density and molar volume factors due to its higher molar mass and larger atomic size compared to SrO. The optical bandgap values decreased with increasing Dy3+ ion concentration, and the photoluminescence properties were influenced by the asymmetry sites of Dy3+ ions in the glasses. The SBTZBD5 glass showed the highest radiative features for the hypersensitive transition and is suitable for solid-state lighting and laser functionalities.

Up-conversion and downconversion studies of Nd3+doped borophosphate glasses

Harpreet Singh et al.

Summary: Neodymium doped borophosphate glasses were synthesized and their luminescence properties were investigated. The participation of Nd3+ in the glass structure was confirmed by the increase in density and decrease in molar volume with increasing concentration of Nd2O3. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy identified various structural units due to B2O3, P2O5, and PbO.

Oxide ion polarizability, optical basicity, and metallization criterion of GO-coated Nd2O3 (NPs) - TeO2 glass for linear optical fibre

H. R. Shaari et al.

Summary: This study explores the use of graphene oxide as a coating material on glass surfaces and investigates its effects on the optical properties of the glass. The results demonstrate that the coating increases the polarizability and optical basicity values of the glass, making it suitable for linear optical glass fiber.

Laser-induced time-resolved luminescence in analysis of rare earth elements in apatite and calcite

Sari Romppanen et al.

Summary: In this study, laser-induced time-resolved luminescence was used to investigate rare earth elements in natural apatite and calcite minerals. Specific excitation wavelengths were identified to detect these elements, demonstrating the feasibility of selected excitations and avoiding interference from intense Mn2+ luminescence band.
