Summary: In this study, we synthesized and studied novel complexes involving VO(II), Mn(II), Fe(III), Zn(II), and Ag(I) with 4-((2-hydroxy-1-naphthyl)azo) benzenesulfonamide. Characterization techniques including thermogravimetry, magnetic susceptibility testing, electrical conductivity studies, infrared spectroscopy, and mass spectroscopy were crucial in the investigation. The metal complexes exhibited enhanced biological activity against harmful microorganisms compared to the unbound ligand. Molecular docking studies suggested that these compounds have physiological effects and potential applications in the pharmaceutical industry.

The metal complexes exhibited either a tetrahedral or octahedral structure. In addition to their antibacterial and antifungal efficacy, the metal complexes also showed higher antioxidant activity compared to the free ligand.

Summary: In this study, square planar [PdL.dmso] and [PtL.dmso] complexes were formed by ligand H2L with SNO sites and DMSO coordinated to Pd(II) and Pt(II), while Na[NiL.OAc] complex formed with the same ligand and CH3COO-. Various techniques were used to characterize the compounds, including FTIR, UV-Vis, 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy, and micro and physical analysis. The structures of [PdL.dmso] and [PtL.dmso] complexes were determined using single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The complexes showed promising cancer therapeutic activity, with the highest activity observed in [PdL.dmso].

The ligand behaves as a bidentate and tetradentate chelating agent via nitrogen and oxygen atoms. The prepared complexes have octahedral geometries and their kinetic parameters were estimated using the Coats-Redfern equations.

The complexes exhibited good thermal stability and a six-coordination with octahedral geometry. Density Functional Theory (DFT) computations provided insights into the electrical and structural features of these metal chelates. The compounds showed various interactions with CT-DNA and demonstrated antibacterial and antioxidant activities.

Compound 4 was identified as the best radical scavenger among the studied compounds.

Novel Enrofloxacin Schiff Base Metal Complexes: Synthesis, Spectroscopic Characterization, Computational Simulation and Antimicrobial Investigation against Some Food and Phyto-Pathogens

Summary: In this study, a novel complex H(2)Erx-en was synthesized by the condensation reaction between enrofloxacin and ethylenediamine in the presence of glacial acetic acid. The H(2)Erx-en chelate was found to exhibit four-coordinate binding with metal ions iron(III), yttrium(III), zirconium(IV), and lanthanum(III). Various analytical techniques were used to characterize the synthetic H(2)Erx-en and its chelates, including elemental analysis, spectroscopic methods, mass spectrometry, thermal studies, conductometric and magnetic measurements. The chelates showed higher conductivity than H(2)Erx-en, and the zirconium(IV) complex exhibited the most potent antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi.
