Precision size and refractive index analysis of weakly scattering nanoparticles in polydispersions

Anna D. Kashkanova et al.

Summary: iNTA is a new method that combines interferometric detection of scattering with nanoparticle tracking analysis, providing high sensitivity and precision in determining the size and refractive index distributions of suspended nanoparticles. It has shown remarkable ability in resolving the constituents of multicomponent and polydisperse samples, and has already made advancements in several important applications.

Amplitude and Phase Spectra of Light Scattered from a Single Nanoparticle

Hankyul Lee et al.

Summary: In this study, a method to fully recover the scattering amplitude and phase from iSCAT is reported. By scanning the objective lens vertically along the z-axis, interference between scattered light and reflected light is achieved, providing highly accurate scattering amplitude and phase. This method can be used for spectral analysis of single nanoparticles and extraction of parameters of plasmon resonance.

In-line holographic microscopy with model-based analysis

Caroline Martin et al.

Summary: Holographic microscopy is an optical microscope that collects holograms and analyzes them to obtain information about specimen properties. It offers high-speed acquisition of precise results. This Primer introduces in-line holographic microscopy and three analysis methods and discusses applications, reproducibility, and limitations. It also provides an outlook on future development and the integration between experiment and computational analysis.

Multiscale modeling and analysis for high-fidelity interferometric scattering microscopy

Yong He et al.

Summary: This paper presents a theoretical framework of multiscale modeling and analysis for interferometric scattering microscopy (iSCAT), exploring the influence of sample shape, illumination, and detection schemes on interference contrast, and providing an explanation for the origin of interference phenomenon. Additionally, it investigates the point spread function of gold nanoparticles in a simplified cell environment.

Improving holographic particle characterization by modeling spherical aberration

Caroline Martin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of spherical aberration on single-particle holograms and accuracy of particle characterization, finding that it can lead to systematic shifts in inferred refractive index and radius. Fitting with a model that considers spherical aberration can reduce this error significantly, making particle characterization more robust across different levels of aberration.
