Bimetallic Ag/Cu supported hollow SiO2 sphere drives the efficient hydrogenation of nitroarenes

Dongxiao Sun et al.

Summary: A low-cost and efficient Ag/Cu bimetallic catalyst was designed by supporting nanoparticles on the surface of hollow SiO2 sphere, leading to decreased aggregation of metal nanoparticles. The hollow/porous structure of SiO2 significantly enhanced the diffusion of reactants/products and improved the catalytic activity toward nitroarenes hydrogenation. Additionally, almost quantitative production of corresponding aniline demonstrated practical potential.

Chemoselective Hydrogenation of Nitroarenes Using an Air-Stable Base-Metal Catalyst

Viktoriia Zubar et al.

Summary: A method using a single base-metal catalyst to reduce nitroarenes and azobenzenes under relatively mild conditions has been successfully achieved. This method tolerates a wide range of functional groups and provides high yields of the desired products. Mechanistic studies suggest that the reaction proceeds through bifunctional activation involving metal-ligand cooperative catalysis.

Chemoselective Hydrogenation of Nitroarenes Using Ni-Fe Alloy Catalysts at Ambient Pressure

Masayoshi Miyazaki et al.

Summary: Ni-Fe alloy catalysts exhibit high activity and selectivity in the hydrogenation of nitroarenes, with a higher Turnover frequency (TOF) compared to Ni monometal catalysts. The formation of Ni-Fe alloy promotes the adsorption of the nitro group and enhances the selective hydrogenation of nitroarenes.

Structure and reaction mechanism of binary Ni-Al oxides as materials for lithium-ion battery anodes

Noriyuki Sonoyama et al.

Summary: A nanometer sized solid solution of NiO and Al2O3 was synthesized through calcination of Ni-Al layered double hydroxides (LDHs). The resulting compound showed improved electrochemical properties as an anode material for lithium ion batteries, primarily due to the redox activity of Al3+ ions which increased the capacity in the lower voltage region.
