The catalyst derived from the sulfurized Co-doped metal-organic framework (MOF) for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation and its application to pollutant removal

Junli Li et al.

Summary: The application of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) in advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) for pollutant removal has attracted significant attention. In this study, a highly efficient and stable catalyst derived from sulfurized Co-doped MOF (SCo-MOF) was fabricated for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation. The catalyst showed improved catalytic performance due to reduced charge transfer resistance and the predominant presence of Co(II) resulting from sulfurization and Co doping. Additionally, the study investigated the effects of PMS concentration, catalytic dose, and coexisting ions on pollutant degradation.

Universitetet i Oslo-67 (UiO-67)/graphite oxide composites with high capacities of toluene: Synthesis strategy and adsorption mechanism insight

Qiangyu Zhao et al.

Summary: In this paper, a solvothermal synthesis method was proposed for the preparation of UiO-67/GO hybrid nanocomposites. The composites exhibited excellent adsorption capacity for toluene, with the optimal synthesis condition resulting in a maximum adsorption capacity of 876 mg g(-1) for 67/GO-0.5%. The improved adsorption performance was attributed to the presence of graphene oxide, which enhanced p-p interaction, promoted defect generation, and provided more adsorption sites. The regeneration performance of the adsorbent was also verified. The adsorption mechanism involved the cooperation of defects, pi-pi interaction, and hydrogen bonding.

Weakly hydrophobic nanoconfinement by graphene aerogels greatly enhances the reactivity and ambient stability of reactivity of MIL-101-Fe in Fenton-like reaction

Yuwei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel strategy of growing MIL-101-Fe nanoparticles inside graphene aerogel (GA) to create shapeable GA/MIL-101-Fe nanocomposites with higher reactivity in Fenton-like reaction compared to pure MIL-101-Fe. The enhanced reactivity is attributed to smaller particle size, active Fe(II) sites, and defects in the GA matrix. By incorporating MIL-101-Fe into a weakly hydrophobic composite, the loss of catalytic reactivity in humid environments is greatly inhibited and the recovery of reactivity at mild temperatures is accelerated. This work demonstrates the potential of nanoconfined structures to improve catalytic performance and overcome intrinsic limitations.
