Oxygen deficient Ce doped CO supported on alumina catalyst for low-temperature CO oxidation in presence of H2O and SO2

Jyoti Waikar et al.

Summary: Ce-doped Co/Al2O3 catalyst exhibited the highest CO oxidation activity at low temperature, which was attributed to the increased reactive oxygen and oxygen vacancies caused by Ce doping. Ce modification prevented the generation of cobalt aluminate phase and promoted the production of Co3O4 active phase.

Theoretical investigation of the MXene precursors MoxV4-xAlC3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 4)

Ma. Guadalupe Moreno-Armenta et al.

Summary: Through first-principles total-energy calculations, we investigated the thermodynamic stability of the MoxV4-xAlC3 MAX solid solution in the 0 ≤ x ≤ 4 range. Results showed that lattice parameters changed with Mo content and the formation of an ordered alloy was observed. Defect Formation Energy (DFE) analysis confirmed the thermodynamic stability of multiple solid solutions and the exfoliation of MXene layers. Our findings provide atomic-scale understanding of previously reported experimental evidence.

Boosting the plasma catalytic performance of CeO2/γ-Al2O3 in long-chain alkane VOCs via tuning the crystallite size

Jing Li et al.

Summary: CeO2/gamma-Al2O3 catalysts with different crystallite sizes were synthesized, and their catalytic activities in the plasma catalytic oxidation reaction were evaluated. Smaller crystallite sizes showed higher activities, with more concentration of adsorbed oxygen species and higher ratio of Ce3+/(Ce3++Ce4+) on the surface. The oxidation capability of intermediates by-products enhanced with the decrease of crystallite size. This research provides a method to improve catalytic performance.

Antiferromagnetic coupling in the initial stages of the MnN epitaxial growth on the CrN (001) surface

J. C. Moreno H et al.

Summary: Spin polarized first principles calculations were used to study the properties of MnN deposited on the CrN surface. Results suggest a transition of Mn from paramagnetic to ferromagnetic, with the first layer of CrN switching from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic alignment. This work identifies a potential antiferromagnetic system for spintronics applications.

Ga-doped Pd/CeO2 model catalysts for CO oxidation reactivity: A density functional theory study

Shuaihao Tang et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the effect of Ga doping on the performance of Pd/CeO2 SACs system using DFT calculations and transition state theory. Ga doping significantly enhanced the stability of Pd single atoms and promoted the catalytic performance of the CO oxidation reaction effectively. This work provides a new perspective for SACs modification.

Atomic level fluxional behavior and activity of CeO2-supported Pt catalysts for CO oxidation

Joshua L. Vincent et al.

Summary: This study used electron microscopy to observe the structural dynamics occurring at and near Pt/CeO2 interfaces during CO oxidation, showing that catalytic turnover frequency correlates with fluxional behavior. This behavior destabilizes supported Pt particles, enhances oxygen vacancy creation and annihilation rates, leads to increased strain and reduction in CeO2 support surface.
