Proteomic analyses of the oleaginous and carotenogenic yeast Rhodotorula diobovata across growth phases under nitrogen- and oxygen-limited conditions

Irene Fakankun et al.

Summary: Carotenoids and triacylglycerols from yeasts are important bioproducts. Rhodotorula diobovata can produce these bioproducts under varied culture conditions, with nitrogen-limitation influencing lipogenesis onset and other factors like aeration affecting neutral lipid synthesis and accumulation. Proteomic analyses showed upregulation of proteins in lipolysis pathways and reduced fatty acid synthesis, as well as a shift towards carotenoids biosynthesis over fatty acids at the stationary phase.
