Evaluating sustainability initiatives in warehouse for measuring sustainability performance: an emerging economy perspective

Sadia Samar Ali et al.

Summary: Adding green elements in logistics functions is crucial for shaping sustainable supply chains. Business strategies should continuously integrate and evaluate green elements to promote environmental consciousness. This study illustrates and validates its approach through sustainability initiatives implemented in frozen food supply chain warehouses in Saudi Arabia. The study uses a three-phase approach based on contingency theory and triple bottom line approach, and ranks sustainable practices using literature analysis, fuzzy Delphi, and Best Worst Method. The uniqueness of the study lies in its application of a combined compromise solution to rank sustainability performance improvement in warehouses. The results highlight the importance of green operations, sustainable work culture, strategies, and policies in driving sustainability performance outcomes.

Virtual products as an extension of my body: Exploring hedonic and utilitarian shopping value in a virtual reality retail environment

Ayman Alzayat et al.

Summary: The ability for consumers to physically touch products is essential for their shopping experience. When this is not possible, Virtual Reality platforms can provide a simulated way for consumers to explore products, positively impacting the hedonic shopping value. In a VR retail environment, consumers tend to perceive certain products as an extension of the body rather than a presentation, particularly products perceived as an extension of the body are more suitable for VR retail environments. The relationships are mediated by telepresence and the need for touch.

Decentralized Governance of Digital Platforms

Yan Chen et al.

Summary: The rise of blockchain technology has led to the emergence of decentralized platforms, less governed by platform owners and more through community efforts. Evaluating the tradeoffs between centralization and decentralization, semi-decentralization is hypothesized as a higher performing governance structure. Empirical evidence shows an inverted U-shaped relationship between decentralization and platforms' market capitalization, developer attention, and development activity. Experienced leaders can offset the tendency of digital platforms to become more decentralized, achieving semi-decentralization.
