Non-intrusive system state reconstruction from indirect measurements: A novel approach based on Hybrid Data Assimilation methods

Carolina Introini et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel approach to estimate the full state of a system by using a two-step method: determining system parameters based on measurements and estimating the full state using reduced order modelling techniques. This method can be applied to engineering systems where not all variables of interest are measurable.

Stabilization of Generalized Empirical Interpolation Method (GEIM) in presence of noise: A novel approach based on Tikhonov regularization

Carolina Introini et al.

Summary: The Empirical Interpolation Method (EIM) and its generalized version (GEIM) are non-intrusive, reduced-basis model order reduction methods used to solve the problem of optimal placement of sensors and real-time estimation in thermo-hydraulics systems. The research provides an alternative and effective solution to reconstruct the system state in the presence of experimental data affected by random noise by using the Tikhonov regularization technique.

Generalized Empirical Interpolation Method With H1 Regularization: Application to Nuclear Reactor Physics

Helin Gong et al.

Summary: The generalized empirical interpolation method (GEIM) is used to estimate the physical field by combining observation data and a reduced model of the physical system. The efficiency of the approach is demonstrated through numerical experiments on a benchmark problem in nuclear reactor physics.

An empirical interpolation method for two-dimensional vector fields and vector measurements

Francesco A. B. Silva et al.

Summary: This article presents two extensions of the empirical interpolation method (EIM) designed to deal with vector interpolation problems: EIM-roto and EIM-orto. Testing on a benchmark case shows that EIM-roto interpolation allows reconstruction performances close to the POD ones, while EIM-orto interpolation does not provide reliable reconstructions.

Optimal and fast field reconstruction with reduced basis and limited observations: Application to reactor core online monitoring

Helin Gong et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the fast reconstruction of neutronic field in a nuclear core using reduced modeling and limited observations. By investigating different basis selection methods and sensor placement methods, it is found that the POD models and sensor placement determined by the discrete empirical interpolation method and the oversampled discrete empirical interpolation method provide optimal reconstruction in terms of computational complexity, accuracy, and robustness to noise. This result is beneficial for the practical implementation of neutronic field reconstruction methods in nuclear reactor cores.
