Summary: In this study, the duration of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) was compared in patients undergoing complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The results showed that shortening DAPT to less than 3 months significantly reduced major bleeding without increasing ischemic events or mortality.

Very Short Versus Longer Dual Antiplatelet Treatment After Coronary Interventions: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Summary: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials showed that very short (<= 3 months) duration of dual antiplatelet therapy (VSDAPT) after percutaneous coronary intervention with drug-eluting stent significantly reduced net adverse clinical events (NACE) and major bleeding without increasing ischemic events. VSDAPT could be a well-tolerated and feasible treatment option in this patient population.

New therapies targeting hepcidin modifications and hypoxia inducible factors show promise but require further evaluation in clinical trials for effectiveness in treating anemia of inflammation in ill patients.
