Treatment of Hospital-Acquired Infections in Patients with Cirrhosis-New Challenges

Summary: This study analyzed the resistance pattern of organisms isolated from hospital-acquired infections in cirrhotic patients and determined appropriate antibiotics treatment protocols. The results showed a high prevalence of multi-drug resistance and extensive drug resistance in HA infections of cirrhosis patients. Cephalosporins and quinolones were found to be inappropriate empirical antibiotics, and a tigecycline with carbapenem like meropenem and vancomycin based protocol was suggested for treatment.
