EnT-Mediated N-S Bond Homolysis of a Bifunctional Reagent Leading to Aliphatic Sulfonyl Fluorides

Johannes E. Erchinger et al.

Summary: This article presents a new synthetic method that utilizes a photosensitizer to react sulfur fluoride compounds with alkenes, resulting in protected beta-amino sulfonyl fluorides. This method can be used to synthesize peptido sulfonyl fluorides, beta-ammonium sulfonates, and beta-sultams relevant in medicinal chemistry.

Light-promoted Selective Reduction of Nitroarenes to Azoxy-, Azo- and Hydrazo-compounds Catalyzed by Bismuth Porphyrin Metal Organic Framework

Yuqiang Zhang et al.

Summary: We report a photocatalytic strategy for the selective reduction of nitroarenes to azoxy-, azo-, and hydrazo-compounds using bismuth porphyrin metal organic framework (Bi-MOF) as the catalyst under mild conditions (Rt, Light) by controlling time, atmosphere, or the quantity of NaBH4. The photocatalytic protocol showed excellent functional group compatibility and the recyclability of Bi-MOF was demonstrated by five cycle tests. Moreover, the scale-up experiment of 10 g yielded 95%, providing a practical possibility for the large-scale synthesis of azo intermediates.
