Ultraviolet Photodissociation and Activated Electron Photodetachment Mass Spectrometry for Top-Down Sequencing of Modified Oligoribonucleotides

Ines C. Santos et al.

Summary: With the development of RNA-based therapeutics, the need for analytical methods to confirm sequences and map modifications has become urgent. This study compares different mass spectrometry techniques for sequencing modified nucleic acids and finds that UV photodissociation and activated electron photodetachment dissociation are effective for characterizing modified nucleic acids. However, different modifications can affect the fragmentation pathways and sequence coverage.

Aptamer-Based Cell Nucleus Imaging via Expansion Microscopy

Yue Sun et al.

Summary: Aptamer-based Expansion Microscopy (ExM) is a newly developed imaging technology that allows nanoscale imaging under conventional microscopes. This technique utilizes chemically labeled aptamers for molecular recognition, fluorescence reporting, and gel anchoring, enabling high-resolution imaging after gel expansion. It offers a simple and promising approach for super-resolution imaging of cells and tissues.

Fast Electron Detachment Dissociation of Oligonucleotides in Electron-Nitrogen Plasma Stored in Magneto Radio-Frequency Ion Traps

Kaoru Karasawa et al.

Summary: Plasma electron detachment dissociation (EDD) is a novel electron-activated dissociation (EAD) method for the fast sequencing of oligonucleotides with a high sequence coverage. Phosphorothioate (PS) positions showed extremely high dissociation efficiency, while locked nucleotides were not suitable for EDD.
