Quantitative analysis of near infrared spectroscopic data based on dual-band transformation and competitive adaptive reweighted sampling

Yiming Li et al.

Summary: This study proposes a competitive adaptive reweighted sampling method based on dual band transformation (DWT-CARS) for quantitative analysis of complex near-infrared spectroscopic data. The method achieves good results and further enhances accuracy and stability through integrated modeling.

Effect of variable selection algorithms on model performance for predicting moisture content in biological materials using spectral data

Mohammed Kamruzzaman et al.

Summary: Variable selection is a critical step in designing a dedicated multispectral real-time system. This study compares the effects of different algorithms on predicting moisture content in red meat and corn, and finds that the competitive adaptive reweighted sampling-partial least squares regression (CARS-PLSR) model performs the best.

Spectral variable selection based on least absolute shrinkage and selection operator with ridge-adding homotopy

Haoran Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the RAH algorithm is combined with LASSO to fit the entire solution of the LASSO problem by tracking KKT conditions and selecting the optimal regularization parameter. The results demonstrate that RAH-LASSO + PLS outperforms other methods in terms of wavelength selection and calibration.

Detection of low numbers of bacterial cells in a pharmaceutical drug product using Raman spectroscopy and PLS-DA multivariate analysis

R. A. Grosso et al.

Summary: Sterility testing is a time-consuming process in the pharmaceutical industry. Raman spectroscopy offers a label-free tool to detect microorganisms, making it a promising alternative method for sterility testing. In this study, a non-invasive approach using Raman spectroscopy and multivariate data analysis was developed to detect bacteria in drug product containers at concentrations below 100 CFU per ml. The results show the potential of this rapid and cost-effective approach for quality control in the pharmaceutical industry.

A new strategy of characterizing hydrocarbon fuels using FTIR spectra and generalized linear model with grouped-Lasso regularization

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the use of gas-phase mid-infrared spectra for estimating the properties of hydrocarbon fuels and proposes a new strategy for property estimation. It characterizes fuel structure using a generalized linear model with grouped-Lasso regularization and investigates the robustness of the method against low spectral resolution and high multiplicative noise. Two property estimation models, linear and nonlinear additive models, are presented to estimate properties based on functional group numbers.
