Enzyme powered self-assembly of hydrogel biosensor for colorimetric detection of metabolites

Yinghao Zhang et al.

Summary: The study presents an enzyme-powered self-assembly strategy to construct an enzyme-entrapped hydrogel biosensor for the colorimetric detection of metabolites. The gelation process driven by the enzyme allows encapsulation of detection enzymes while maintaining their activities, enabling catalytic detection and colorimetric signal readout. The hydrogel biosensor is further fitted in a test tube for convenient operation, making it a promising tool for home medical diagnosis and clinical routine rapid testing. Moreover, the system has the potential for embedding other detecting enzymes and facilitating a wide range of biomedical tests based on specific enzymes.

AuNP aggregation-induced quantitative colorimetric aptasensing of sulfadimethoxine with a smartphone

Xiaoliang Zhang et al.

Summary: A colorimetric aptasensing method using gold nanoparticle (AuNP) aggregation was developed for quantitative detection of sulfadimethoxine (SDM) with a smartphone. The R, G, and B values of smartphone images were analyzed for quantitative analysis of SDM. This method provides a simple, fast, and easy to read approach for on-site quantitative biochemical and cellular analysis.

Aptamer-functionalized 2D photonic crystal hydrogels for detection of adenosine

Peiyan Shen et al.

Summary: This study reports the use of aptamer-functionalized two-dimensional photonic crystal hydrogels for the detection of adenosine. The aptamer selectively and sensitively binds adenosine, resulting in changes in the hydrogel's volume and particle spacing. The concentration of adenosine can be determined by measuring the light diffraction of the hydrogel. This hydrogel sensor shows potential applicability for real samples.
