Accuracy of indirect bracket placement with medium-soft, transparent, broad-coverage transfer trays fabricated using computer-aided design and manufacturing: An in-vivo study

Mario Palone et al.

Summary: This study aims to test the accuracy of in-vivo indirect bracket placement using computer-aided designed and manufactured transfer trays. The accuracy of bonding was evaluated through various measurements and deviations were analyzed using a digital superimposition method. The results showed that the transfer tray provided accurate bracket placement for routine fixed appliance treatment.

Management of moderate crowding by two-arch distalization using passive self-ligating lingual brackets, in-house digital indirect bonding, and mini-screw anchorage: A case report

Nguyen Viet Anh et al.

Summary: This case report describes the use of passive self-ligating lingual brackets to treat an adult patient with moderate crowding in both arches and anterior crossbite. Digital orthodontic setup and bracket positioning were done using an in-house approach. The patient achieved normal overbite, overjet, and well-aligned dentition after 12 months of treatment without premolar extraction. In-house digital setup and bracket placement can be a cost-effective method for indirect lingual bracket bonding in cases of moderate crowding.

Bracket transfer accuracy with two different three-dimensional printed transfer trays vs silicone transfer trays

Lea Hoffmann et al.

Summary: This study compared the transfer accuracy of two different three-dimensional printed trays and polyvinyl siloxane (PVS) trays for indirect bonding. The results showed that three-dimensional printed trays achieved comparable bracket positioning accuracy with PVS trays. However, NextDent exhibited a higher frequency of clinically acceptable errors.

Transfer accuracy of 3D-printed trays for indirect bonding o orthodontic brackets: A clinical study

Petra C. Bachour et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the transfer accuracy of 3D-printed indirect bonding trays constructed using a fully digital workflow in vivo. The results showed high positional accuracy in the mesiodistal, buccolingual, and occlusogingival dimensions, but questions remain regarding the transfer accuracy for torque, tip, and rotation.

Accuracy of planned tooth movement with lingual straight wire technique

Paolo Albertini et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the accuracy of torque, tip, rotation, and transverse width values with lingual straight-wire technique. Results showed high accuracy (>84%) in most tooth movements, except for lower accuracy in certain teeth. Planned expansion of the arches only partially occurred.

Understanding the effect of scan spans on the accuracy of intraoral and desktop scanners

Yuming Chen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the accuracy of intraoral scanners and desktop scanners when scanning different spans. The results showed that the accuracy of the scanners was affected by their types and the scan spans, and the accuracy of full arch scans with intraoral scanners was significantly lower than that of half arch and three teeth scans.

Prevalence of Class I, II and III skeletal relationships and its association with dental anomalies in an ethnic Chinese orthodontic population

Grace Xiu Ling Chan et al.

Summary: The study found that skeletal Class I is the most common in Chinese orthodontic patients, while Class III patients have lower odds of impacted teeth compared to Class I patients. There was no significant difference in the occurrence of dental anomalies among the various skeletal types.

Effect of the presence of orthodontic brackets on intraoral scans

Sung-Ja Kang et al.

Summary: The study shows that intraoral scans remain accurate even with the presence of brackets, with discrepancies of less than 0.30 mm. It is recommended to use areas beyond 0.50 mm around the brackets for superimposition on images without brackets.

Comparison of the transfer accuracy of two digital indirect bonding trays for labial bracket bonding

Ye Niu et al.

Summary: The study compared the transfer accuracy of 3D printed trays and vacuum-formed trays in the indirect bonding of labial brackets. Results showed that the 3D printed tray had lower mesiodistal transfer error and higher prevalence of rotation error within 2 degrees. Both trays had good linear control, but lower angular control.

Beom-Young Yu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of intaglio surface trueness and margin quality of interim crowns fabricated using 3D printing, showing significant differences based on the type of tooth and build angles. The recommended build angle for optimal results was found to be between 150 and 210 degrees.
