Gender differences in vision health-seeking behavior and vision health outcomes among rural Chinese schoolchildren by birth order and family size

Summary: This study examines the gender differences in healthcare-seeking behaviors among visually impaired children in rural China. The results show that girls have worse vision than boys and have a lower overall vision examination rate. The gender differences vary depending on birth order and family size, and boys are more likely to own eyeglasses than girls, except when the sample student has siblings.
