High-Order Linearly Implicit Structure-Preserving Exponential Integrators for the Nonlinear Schrodinger Equation

Chaolong Jianig et al.

Summary: A novel class of high-order linearly implicit energy-preserving integrating factor Runge-Kutta methods are proposed for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation. The methods reformulate the original equation into an equivalent form that satisfies a quadratic energy and apply the Fourier pseudo-spectral method to approximate the spatial derivatives. The proposed schemes produce numerical solutions that precisely conserve the modified energy and are more efficient compared to other existing structure-preserving schemes.

A fourth-order compact finite difference scheme for the quantum Zakharov system that perfectly inherits both mass and energy conservation

Yongyong Cai et al.

Summary: In this paper, a new fourth-order compact finite difference scheme is proposed for solving the quantum Zakharov system. The scheme preserves the mass and energy conservation properties of the system, while also preserving the energy at each time step. By analyzing the equivalent form of the difference scheme using the energy method, rigorous optimal error estimates are established in the energy norm. The scheme demonstrates fourth-order accuracy in space and second-order accuracy in time. Numerical examples validate the theoretical results and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

GEOMETRIC INTEGRATION OF ODEs USING MULTIPLE QUADRATIC AUXILIARY VARIABLES

Benjamin K. Tapley

Summary: We present a novel numerical method for solving ODEs while preserving polynomial first integrals. The method reformulates the ODE by introducing quadratic auxiliary variables and applies the midpoint rule to an equivalent but higher-dimensional ODE with only quadratic integrals. The resulting method, a novel discrete gradient method, can eliminate the quadratic auxiliary variables and obtain a midpoint-like method on the original phase space. The method can be extended to higher-order through composition and is illustrated with various numerical examples.

Arbitrarily High-Order Energy-Preserving Schemes for the Camassa-Holm Equation Based on the Quadratic Auxiliary Variable Approach

Yuezheng Gong et al.

Summary: In this paper, a quadratic auxiliary variable (QAV) technique is used to develop energy-preserving algorithms for the Camassa-Holm equation. The technique transforms the original equation and discretizes it to obtain a class of fully discrete schemes. The proposed methods are proven to be energy-preserving, and numerical experiments confirm their accuracy, conservative property, and efficiency.

A Novel Class of Energy-Preserving Runge-Kutta Methods for the Korteweg-de Vries Equation

Yue Chen et al.

Summary: In this paper, a quadratic auxiliary variable approach is proposed to develop energy-preserving Runge-Kutta methods for the Korteweg-de Vries equation. The approach reformulates the original model into an equivalent system and employs symplectic Runge-Kutta methods to obtain a new kind of time semi-discrete schemes. The proposed methods effectively preserve the energy conservation law and achieve efficient calculation with a iterative technique.

Asymptotic preserving trigonometric integrators for the quantum Zakharov system

Simon Baumstark et al.

Summary: The new asymptotic preserving trigonometric integrators presented in the study are able to converge effectively in both quantum and classical regimes without imposing step size restrictions. Furthermore, they converge uniformly to the classical Zakharov system in the time discretization parameter. Numerical experiments demonstrate the favorable error behavior and long-term structure preservation properties of these new schemes.

Energy-preserving exponential integrators of arbitrarily high order for conservative or dissipative systems with highly oscillatory solutions

Lijie Mei et al.

Summary: This paper presents a uniform framework to design energy-preserving exponential integrators of arbitrarily high order based on the modifying integrator theory. By finding the truncated modified differential equations, arbitrarily high-order integrators are designed for highly oscillatory systems. A fourth-order energy-preserving exponential integrator is constructed and its stability and convergence are analyzed, showing remarkable superiority over existing integrators for highly oscillatory systems.

Gengen Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a highly accurate conservative method for solving the quantum Zakharov system, which is fourth-order accurate in space and second-order accurate in time according to detailed numerical analysis. The proposed scheme's conservation properties and high accuracy are confirmed through various numerical examples. Additionally, the compact scheme is used to study the convergence rate of the quantum Zakharov system to its limiting model in the semi-classical limit.
