Allylic C-H amination cross-coupling furnishes tertiary amines by electrophilic metal catalysis

Siraj Z. Ali et al.

Summary: In this study, a self-regulatory mechanism was developed for allylic carbon-hydrogen amination cross-coupling. By coupling the release of amine nucleophiles with catalyst turnover, excellent regio- and stereoselectivity were achieved. The method successfully produced a variety of drug compounds and complex drug derivatives.

Iron-mediated ligand-to-metal charge transfer enables 1,2-diazidation of alkenes

Muliang Zhang et al.

Summary: Given the importance of vicinal diamine units in various fields, a strategy that avoids the use of stoichiometric strong oxidants is highly desirable. This study presents the application of ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) excitation to achieve 1,2-diazidation reactions using iron salt as the catalyst. The LMCT-homolysis mode enables the generation of electrophilic azidyl radical intermediate and subsequent carbon-nitrogen bond formation, providing a versatile and eco-friendly approach for the synthesis of structurally diverse diazides from alkenes.

Synthesis of 1,2-Diamines from Vinyl Sulfonium Salts and Arylamines

Cheng Wang et al.

Summary: A procedure for the mild synthesis of 1,2-diamines without the need for a catalyst and oxidizing reagent has been developed. This method demonstrated practicality through one-pot synthesis, scale-up reaction, and transformation of products. Mechanistic studies revealed the crucial role of aziridine formation in this diamination process.

Electrochemical Synthesis of Allylic Amines from Terminal Alkenes and Secondary Amines

Diana J. Wang et al.

Summary: Allylic amines are important synthetic targets for various biologically active compounds. A new electrochemical process was developed in this study to prepare aliphatic allylic amines by coupling secondary amines and unactivated alkenes. This method allows for the functionalization of feedstock gaseous alkenes and can be used to synthesize complex biologically active molecules.

Diastereodivergent Intermolecular 1,2-Diamination of Unactivated Alkenes Enabled by Iodine Catalysis

Satoshi Minakata et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the stereospecific, substrate-controlled intermolecular anti- and syn-1,2-diaminations of unactivated alkenes using an iodine catalyst. The combined use of the two methods allows access to all diastereomeric forms of 1,2-diamines, even in the presence of E- and Z-alkenes, with the resulting products easily convertible into free vicinal diamines.

Copper-Catalyzed Diamination of Unactivated Alkenes With Electron-Rich Amino Sources

Yang Li et al.

Summary: Using a directing-group strategy, a copper-catalyzed diamination of unactivated alkenes efficiently generates symmetrical diamines with high diastereoselectivity using readily available dialkylamines as amino sources, while unsymmetrical diamines require a one-pot or two-step operation. These reactions are proposed to proceed through aziridinium intermediates.

Catalytic, Enantioselective Diamination of Alkenes

Zhong-Lin Tao et al.

Summary: Enantioselective diamination of alkenes is an important method for accessing enantioenriched, vicinal diamines, with broad applications in asymmetric synthesis. Despite lagging behind dihydroxylation of olefins, successful methods using different reaction mechanisms have been developed for enantioselective olefin diamination. This review highlights recent advances and limitations in the field, aiming to inspire further developments.

Recent developments in the difunctionalization of alkenes with C-N bond formation

Xiang Chen et al.

Summary: The difunctionalization of carbon-carbon double bonds is a powerful tool in synthetic chemistry to enhance the complexity of molecules by introducing two novel functional groups in one pot. Research on difunctionalization of alkenes involving the participation of a N source is a hotspot due to the broad existence of N-containing functional groups in various compounds, and further developments in this area are expected.
