Electrically driven amplified spontaneous emission from colloidal quantum dots

Namyoung Ahn et al.

Summary: Colloidal quantum dots (QDs) are promising materials for solution-processable laser diodes due to their size-controlled emission wavelengths, low optical-gain thresholds, and easy integration with photonic and electronic circuits. However, challenges such as fast Auger recombination, poor stability at high current densities, and difficulty in obtaining net optical gain have hindered their implementation. In this study, we successfully achieved amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) from electrically pumped colloidal QDs by utilizing compact, continuously graded QDs with suppressed Auger recombination and a low-loss photonic waveguide. These QD ASE diodes exhibited strong, broadband optical gain and high-power edge emission.

High Electron Mobility Hot-Exciton Induced Delayed Fluorescent Organic Semiconductors

Y. Zhang et al.

Summary: The development of high mobility emissive organic semiconductors, such as dinaphthylanthracene diimides (DNADIs), is crucial for the fabrication of miniaturized optoelectronic devices, like organic light emitting transistors. These materials, designed and synthesized with acceptor-donor-acceptor structure, exhibit high electron mobility and efficient utilization of triplet excitons. Additionally, fine-tuning of substitution sites further enhances their solid state photoluminescence quantum yield and features of hot-exciton induced delayed fluorescence. This work opens new possibilities for creating high electron mobility emissive organic semiconductors.

Redistributed Current Density in Lateral Organic Light-Emitting Transistors Enabling Uniform Area Emission with Good Stability and Arbitrary Tunability

Haikuo Gao et al.

Summary: This study proposes an effective solution to achieve uniform area emission in organic light-emitting transistors (OLETs), by incorporating a charge-transport buffer (CTB) layer between the conducting channel and emitting layer. Theoretical simulation and experimental results demonstrate the redistribution of potential beneath the drain electrode, resulting in a highly uniform current density. The constructed RGB OLETs show good gate tunable ability, high loop stability, and high aperture ratio, making them promising for display technology.

Wafer-scale monolithic integration of full-colour micro-LED display using MoS2 transistor

Sumin Hwangbo et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel fabrication method for the integration of transition metal dichalcogenides with compound semiconductors, which is compatible with a batch microfabrication process. The authors demonstrate the synthesis of a thin film of molybdenum disulfide on a gallium-nitride-based epitaxial wafer, which is then used to form a thin film transistor array. This transistor array is subsequently integrated with micro-light-emitting-diode devices to create an active matrix micro-LED display. The authors also show a simple approach for obtaining red and green colors through the printing of quantum dots on a blue micro-LED, enabling the scalable fabrication of full-color micro-LED displays.
