Luminescence Temperature Quenching in Mn2+ Phosphors

Arnoldus J. J. van Bunningen et al.

Summary: Narrower band red and green emission in phosphor-converted white light-emitting diodes can be achieved by using Mn2+ as a luminescent ion. The luminescence quenching temperature of Mn2+ is shown to vary greatly depending on the host material, with a positive correlation with the bandgap of the host. The quenching mechanism is found to be thermally activated photoionization, and a wide-bandgap host material is required for temperature-stable Mn2+ luminescence in high power LEDs.

Highly Effective Hybrid Copper(I) Iodide Cluster Emitter with Negative Thermal Quenched Phosphorescence for X-Ray Imaging

Qingsong Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, we introduce an efficient hybrid copper(I) iodide cluster emitter (DBA)(4)Cu4I4, which achieves ultra-bright triplet yellow-orange emission with a photoluminescence quantum yield over 94.9% through the cooperation of excited state structure reorganization and the metallophilicity interaction. The phonon-assisted de-trapping process of exciton induces the negative thermal quenching effect at 80-300 K. Furthermore, our (DBA)(4)Cu4I4 wafer shows great potential in practical X-ray imaging applications with a light yield higher than 10(4) photons MeV-1 and a high spatial resolution of approximate to 5.0 lp mm(-1). This new copper(I) iodide cluster emitter can be used as a model for investigating the thermodynamic mechanism of photoluminescence in hybrid copper(I) halide phosphorescence materials.

Deep-blue emissive Cs3Cu2I5 perovskites nanocrystals with 96.6% quantum yield via InI3-assisted synthesis for light-emitting device and fluorescent ink applications

Fei Gao et al.

Summary: Lead-free Cs3Cu2I5 nanocrystals with deep-blue emission and high photoluminescence quantum yield are synthesized by adding InI3 precursor. The broad-band blue emission originates from self-trapped excitons formed in Cs3Cu2I5 under light excitation. These nanocrystals exhibit good stability against various environmental factors and can be used in light-emitting devices and fluorescent ink with anti-counterfeiting features.
