Structure and Rheology of Poly(vinylidene difluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) in an Ionic Liquid: The Solvent Behaves as a Weak Cross-Linker through Ion-Dipole Interaction

Kota Aoki et al.

Summary: Mixtures of poly(vinylidene difluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) and ionic liquids form polymer-gel electrolytes with flexible, self-healing, and ion-conductive properties. The structure and viscoelastic properties of this system were studied using various analytical techniques, revealing the importance of polymer network structure and dynamics. The results indicate complex interactions between the polymer, ionic liquid, and cations, leading to unique binding energy and cooperative behavior.

Enhanced ionic transport in ferroelectric polymer fiber mats

Ayesha Sultana et al.

Summary: Increasing the ferroelectric phase content in a polymer matrix can enhance the molar ionic conductivity of incorporated ionic liquid significantly. Ferroelectric polymer fiber mats were prepared to induce the ferroelectric phase and ensure the polarization of dipoles, leading to improved conductivity. An organic ionic thermistor was fabricated using these fiber mats, demonstrating temperature tracking and mapping functions.
