Wafer-patterned, permeable, and stretchable liquid metal microelectrodes for implantable bioelectronics with chronic biocompatibility

Qiuna Zhuang et al.

Summary: Implantable bioelectronics provide opportunities for real-time and continuous monitoring of physiological signals, but their long-term compatibility is hampered by low permeability and high modulus. We present a patternable strategy for the fabrication of supersoft and permeable liquid metal microelectrodes on porous substrates. These microelectrodes have high patterning density and demonstrate chronic biocompatibility in neural mapping experiments over eight months.

Interfacial engineering of nanostructured photoanode in fiber dye-sensitized solar cells for self-charging power systems

Weixing Song et al.

Summary: Solar cells, specifically fiber dye-sensitized solar cells (FDSSCs), offer a cost-effective and flexible power source for next-generation wearable electronics. With the introduction of nanopillar arrays and atomic layer deposition of TiO2 layer, the energy conversion efficiency of FDSSCs has been significantly improved. These FDSSCs can be combined with planar microsupercapacitor clusters to create self-charging power systems that can be attached to various surfaces for practical applications.
