Remarkable anisotropy in rhombohedral Ge2Sb2Te5 compound: a promising thermoelectric material with multiple conduction bands and acoustic-optical branches coupling

Jiale Miao et al.

Summary: First-principles calculations and Boltzmann transport theory were used to evaluate the electronic structure and thermoelectric properties of high-temperature rhombohedral Ge2Sb2Te5 compound, revealing the characteristics of multiple valleys and degenerate features in the conduction band which can significantly enhance the conductivity and Seebeck coefficient at specific electron doping levels. Additionally, the compound shows excellent thermoelectric performance along the z-axis.

The strain-induced excellent thermoelectric performance of PbTe

Donglin Guo et al.

Summary: Through the study, it is found that applying compressive strain has a significant impact on the thermoelectric performance of cubic phase PbTe, leading to a decrease in band gap and Seebeck coefficient, while increasing electrical conductivity, power factor, thermal conductivity, and ZT value. Under compressive strain conditions, the thermoelectric performance of p-type PbTe is superior to that of n-type.
