A Simple Approach to Solution-Processible Small-Molecule Multi-Resonance TADF Emitters for High-Performance Narrowband OLEDs

Tao Wang et al.

Summary: A simple and feasible approach is developed for solution-processible small-molecule multi-resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) emitters by incorporating two MR-TADF units onto a carbazole bridge with long alkyl chains. The resulting emitters demonstrate excellent film-forming capability and narrowband emissions with a full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 22 nm. The solution-processed narrowband electroluminescent devices based on these emitters achieve a maximum external quantum efficiency of 27.1%, representing the highest efficiency among solution-processed OLEDs based on MR-TADF emitters. This simple approach reveals great potential for developing solution-processible emitters with rigid and planar molecular structures.

Dibenzo[b,d]furan/thiophene-fused double boron-based multiresonance emitters with narrowband ultrapure green electroluminescence

Menglei Wang et al.

Summary: Here, we designed and synthesized double boron (DB)-based narrowband pure-green multiresonance (MR) emitters DBF-DBN and DBT-DBN. By using dibenzo[b,d]furan and dibenzo[b,d]thiophene as linkages, the target DB-MR-emitters have a rigid and symmetric molecular structure, resulting in a narrowband pure-green emission. DBT-DBN showed a higher reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) rate due to the heavy-atom effect of sulfur. OLEDs based on DBT-DBN achieved ultrapure green emission with high external quantum efficiencies (EQEs), meeting the BT.2020 green standard.
