Color-phase readout radiochromic photonic crystal dosimeter

Zhihao Wang et al.

Summary: We report a new dosimetry concept based on the continuous and linear Bragg wavelength shift of photonic crystals in response to X-ray or γ-ray radiation. The dosimeters demonstrated high spatial resolution and tunable responsive range by decreasing the lattice distance caused by chain scission or crosslinking of polymer networks. This design has more flexibility, exceptional pre-irradiation stability, and convenient device-free readout techniques.

Reconfigurable Inverse Opal Structure Film for a Rewritable and Double-Sided Photonic Crystal Paper

Xinhua Li et al.

Summary: A novel rewritable photonic crystal (PC) paper with inkless writing and double-sided rewritability properties was developed in this study. It was fabricated using the sacrificial template method, exhibiting an inverse opal structure and a bright structural color. The PC paper showed excellent rewritability triggered by sliding friction, deformation from capillary pressure, and swelling-triggered recovery of the inverse opal structure, even after 50 runs of the rewriting process.
