Structure-Free Broadcast Scheduling for Duty-Cycled Multihop Wireless Sensor Networks

Quan Chen et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the problem of Minimum Latency Broadcast Scheduling (MLBS) in duty-cycled wireless sensor networks. It proposes a two-step scheduling algorithm to construct the broadcast tree and compute a collision-free schedule simultaneously, and introduces concurrent broadcasting transmission mode. It also presents multiple messages broadcasting and all-to-all broadcasting algorithms to generate independent broadcast schedules for improving efficiency.

On the Computation of Virtual Backbones With Fault Tolerance in Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks

Weiguang Zhang et al.

Summary: In wireless sensor networks, constructing a high-quality virtual backbone (VB) is crucial, especially in the presence of faulty nodes. This article proposes a constant approximation algorithm to construct a (k, m)-SCDAS in a mathematical model disk graph, serving as a fault-tolerant VB.

Integer Programs for Contention Aware Connected Dominating Sets in Wireless Multi-Hop Networks

Chowdhury Nawrin Ferdous et al.

Summary: Efficient data propagation between mobile nodes in wireless networks is crucial, with the use of a Minimum Connected Dominating Set (MCDS) to reduce redundant transmissions. A Contention Aware Connected Dominating Set (CACDS) is necessary to minimize transmission conflict when groups of nodes contend for shared channels. Integer programming formulations for MCDS and CACDS were computationally studied, with a new method proposed to compute Bender's feasibility cut based on the number of connected components. Experimental results showed that the new method outperformed the state-of-the-art approach in terms of time efficiency and contention minimization in large networks.

COFlood: Concurrent Opportunistic Flooding in Asynchronous Duty Cycle Networks

Zhichao Cao et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new concurrent flooding protocol COFlood, which shows efficient performance in asynchronous duty cycle networks by selecting additional concurrent senders to improve network flooding speed and energy efficiency. Compared with state-of-the-art protocols, COFlood can reduce completion time and energy consumption by up to 353% and 26.6% respectively, demonstrating its effectiveness.
