Plasma folate levels in relation to cognitive impairment: a community-based cohort of older adults in China

Xiao Chen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the association between plasma folate level and risk of cognitive impairment in older adults in China. The results showed that higher plasma folate levels were associated with a lower risk of cognitive impairment, particularly in males. These findings suggest a potential beneficial role of plasma folate in cognitive function in older Chinese adults.

BDNF Impact on Biological Markers of Depression-Role of Physical Exercise and Training

Eugenia Murawska-Cialowicz et al.

Summary: Depression is the most common and devastating psychiatric disorder worldwide, and exercise training is recognized as a non-pharmacological strategy to alleviate clinical depression by enhancing the expression and secretion of BDNF. BDNF plays a key role in neurogenesis, growth, and survival of neurons, communicating and cooperating with other organs/tissues to improve mood, cognition, and learning processes.
