Engineering bioluminescent bacteria to boost photodynamic therapy and systemic anti-tumor immunity for synergistic cancer treatment

Zhijuan Yang et al.

Summary: This study developed bioluminescent bacteria as an internal light source to enhance photodynamic therapy (PDT). The bioluminescence-triggered PDT showed significant advantages over conventional PDT and could also induce potent antitumor immunity. This research provides a general and highly effective therapeutic approach for diverse cancers with varying light-absorbing capacities and tumor sizes.

Brain Co-Delivery of Temozolomide and Cisplatin for Combinatorial Glioblastoma Chemotherapy

Yan Zou et al.

Summary: A new type of GBM-cell membrane camouflaged and pH-sensitive biomimetic nanoparticles have been developed for combined TMZ and CDDP therapy for GBM. The results show that these nanoparticles can efficiently transport drugs across the blood-brain barrier and specifically target GBM, allowing for controlled release at GBM sites and demonstrating potent anti-GBM effects without obvious side effects.
