DNA Kirigami Driven by Polymerase-Triggered Strand Displacement

Kuiting Chen et al.

Summary: This study proposes a DNA paper-cutting method to trim origami into designer nanostructures using a polymerase-triggered DNA strand displacement reaction. The feasibility and capability of this method are demonstrated through gel electrophoresis and atomic force microscopy results. This research enriches the toolbox for DNA origami transformation and has potential applications in biomimetics.

A DNA origami rotary ratchet motor

Anna-Katharina Pumm et al.

Summary: To achieve directional motion in a molecular mechanism, researchers have developed a method using Brownian ratchets that break inversion symmetry. Previous work in DNA nanotechnology has shown the possibility of constructing nanoscale mechanisms that can undergo different configurations and motions. Based on these findings, researchers have created a nanoscale rotary motor built from DNA origami that approaches the mechanical capabilities of biological motors.

Broad-Spectrum Virus Trapping with Heparan Sulfate-Modified DNA Origami Shells

Alba Monferrer et al.

Summary: This study reports a virus encapsulation platform based on DNA origami structures that can effectively trap a broad range of viruses by exploiting the affinity and attachment of viruses to heparan sulfate proteoglycans. The DNA origami shells can encapsulate multiple virus particles and prevent further interactions with cell surface receptors.

A DNA nanodevice-based vaccine for cancer immunotherapy

Shaoli Liu et al.

Summary: A DNA nanodevice vaccine has been developed to stimulate a tumor-specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte response, leading to inhibition of tumor growth and prevention of metastasis. The vaccine utilizes molecular adjuvants and antigen peptides within a tubular DNA nanostructure to trigger T-cell activation and cancer cytotoxicity, showing promising results in mouse cancer models. The vaccination generates long-term T-cell responses which effectively protect against tumor rechallenge.
