Metal-Organic Framework Glass Anode with an Exceptional Cycling-Induced Capacity Enhancement for Lithium-Ion Batteries

Chengwei Gao et al.

Summary: A MOF glass anode for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) has been developed, demonstrating high lithium storage capacity, outstanding cycling stability, and superior rate performance. The lithium storage capacity of the MOF glass anode continuously increases with charge-discharge cycling, attributed to the increased distortion and local breakage of the Co-N coordination bonds.

Understanding the mechanism of capacity increase during early cycling of commercial NMC/graphite lithium-ion batteries

Jia Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the capacity increase observed in the early stage of Li-ion battery cycling. The results show that the increased capacity mainly originates from the graphite anode, and larger depth of discharge and high temperatures accelerate this capacity increase.

Piezoelectric composite of BaTiO3-coated SnO2 microsphere: Li-ion battery anode with enhanced electrochemical performance based on accelerated Li+ mobility

Dohyeong Seok et al.

Summary: A BaTiO3-coated SnO2 microsphere composite with high porosity was developed as an anode for high-performance Li-ion batteries, exhibiting improved Li+ ion mobility and electrochemical performance due to the synergistic effect of locally polarized piezoelectric fields and high porosity. The composite anode showed much better rate performance and cycle stability compared to control anodes.

Diffraction artefacts from twins and stacking faults, and the mirage of hexagonal, polytypes or other superstructures

Cyril Cayron

Summary: Recent studies have reported a hexagonal phase in high carbon steels, but it has been shown that this structure is actually the result of double diffraction and streaking effects caused by twins and stacking faults, rather than a superstructure. Similar misunderstandings have also been found in papers reporting exotic structures in aluminum, copper, and diamonds.
