Implication of Wnt/GSK-3ß/ß-Catenin Signaling in the Pathogenesis of Mood Disturbances Associated with Hyperthyroidism in Rats: Potential Therapeutic Effect of Naringin

Mai A. Abd-Elmawla et al.

Summary: Patients with hyperthyroidism often have mood disorders. This study investigated the role of Wnt/GSK-3β/β-catenin signaling in mood disturbances induced by hyperthyroidism, as well as the therapeutic effects of naringin. The results showed that hyperthyroidism activated the Wnt/p-GSK-3β/β-catenin signaling pathway in the hippocampus and caused behavioral and histopathological changes, while naringin treatment alleviated these alterations.

MAGI2-AS3 and miR-374b-5p as Putative Regulators of Multiple Sclerosis via Modulating the PTEN/AKT/IRF-3/IFN-β Axis: New Clinical Insights

Mona A. Kortam et al.

Summary: The study aims to investigate the pathogenesis of MS by studying the regulatory role of lncRNA MAGI2-AS3 in miR-374b-5p and their downstream targets. It also assesses the diagnostic and prognostic role of MAGI2-AS3/miR-374b-5p in MS. The results show that MAGI2-AS3 and PTEN are downregulated, while miR-374b-5p, PI3K, AKT, IRF-3, and IFN-# are upregulated in MS patients.

Remyelinating activities of Carvedilol or alpha lipoic acid in the Cuprizone-Induced rat model of demyelination

Ghadha Ibrahim Fouad et al.

Summary: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex neurodegenerative disease with unknown cause, characterized by demyelinated lesions in the brain. Carvedilol and alpha lipoic acid (ALA) showed potential in promoting remyelination and reducing oxidative stress in a CPZ-induced demyelination model. Carvedilol demonstrated pro-remyelinating activity and ALA showed greater neuroprotective potential.

The lncRNAs UCA1 and CRNDE target miR-145/TLR4/NF-?B/TNF-a axis in acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis model: The beneficial role of 3,3-Diindolylmethane

Noha A. El-Boghdady et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying UC and the regulatory role of lncRNAs UCA1, CRNDE, and miR-145 on TLR4/NF-κB/TNF-α signaling pathway. The results showed that the expression of UCA1 and CRNDE was significantly upregulated in the AA-induced UC model, while miR-145 was downregulated. Treatment with DIM decreased the expression of UCA1 and CRNDE and increased miR-145, and inhibited the TLR4/NF-κB/TNF-α cascade. These findings provide new insights into the molecular basis of UC and the therapeutic potential of DIM.

The potential role of miRNAs in the pathogenesis of salivary gland cancer - A Focus on signaling pathways interplay

Ahmed I. Abulsoud et al.

Summary: This article discusses the heterogeneity and aggressiveness of salivary gland cancer (SGC) and introduces the potential of a diagnostic and prognostic detection method based on miRs. As prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets, miRs can regulate the expression of genes involved in SGC. Many miRs may play a role in the development of SGC.

miRNAs orchestration of salivary gland cancer- Particular emphasis on diagnosis, progression, and drug resistance

Ahmed A. El-Husseiny et al.

Summary: Salivary gland cancer is a type of head and neck cancer with poor survival rates for nonresectable tumors. Research on the pathophysiology of this cancer, particularly at the molecular level, is needed. Abnormal levels of microRNAs (miRNAs) have been found in salivary cancer tissues, suggesting their crucial role in the carcinogenesis of this cancer. Several studies have also identified potential miRNA biomarkers and therapeutic targets for salivary gland cancer. This review aims to explore the regulatory impact of miRNAs on the molecular pathology of this cancer and provide an up-to-date summary of relevant literature.

Acovenoside A as a novel therapeutic approach to boost taxol and carboplatin apoptotic and antiproliferative activities in NSCLC: Interplay of miR-630/miR-181a and apoptosis genes

Nora M. Aborehab et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the potential anticancer effect of cardenolide acovenoside A on non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), understand its molecular mechanism in inducing apoptosis, and assess its combination with carboplatin and taxol. The combination of acovenoside A with taxol and carboplatin demonstrated synergistic cytotoxicity of 78.9% as determined by MTT assay. The triple combination showed the most efficient growth inhibition, decreased the number of cells in the G2/M phase, and increased apoptotic and necrotic activity. Furthermore, the combination upregulated the gene expression of Bax and p53, while downregulating Bcl2. The gene expression of miRNA181a and miRNA630 was significantly increased in cell lines treated with the combination. This study highlights the valuable effect of acovenoside A in combination with carboplatin and taxol, exerting apoptotic, antiproliferative, and cytotoxic effects in the treatment of NSCLC.
