Investigating the interfacial properties of halide perovskite/TiOx heterostructures for versatile photocatalytic reactions under sunlight

Tae Hyung Kim et al.

Summary: Solvent-free reduction of CO2 using amorphous TiOx with embedded colloidal perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) has been achieved by carrying out hydrolysis of titanium butoxide (TBOT) on the PNC surface. The photoexcited electrons are transferred from PNCs to TBOT, enabling photocatalytic reactions using TiOx under visible-light excitation. Efficient visible-light-driven photocatalytic reactions at PNC/TiOx interfaces, with a CO production rate of 30.43 µmol g(-1) h(-1) and accelerated degradation of organic pollutants under natural sunlight, have been demonstrated.

Highly Stable CsPbBr3 Perovskite Nanocrystals Encapsulated in Metal-Organic Frameworks for White Light-Emitting Diodes

Zhen-Dong Lian et al.

Summary: CsPbX3 perovskite nanocrystals have potential in applications like wide color gamut display and lighting, but their instability limits their practical use. This study presents a ligand-free method using ZIF-62 as an encapsulation matrix to synthesize highly stable CsPbX3 nanocrystals. The slightly alkaline nature of ZIF-62 facilitates the reaction between water and PbBr2, passivating surface defects and preventing decomposition or oxidation. The resulting CsPbX3/ZIF-62 composites exhibit high stability against solvents, heat, light, and humidity and show promise in commercial applications.

Deciphering the Role of Water in Promoting the Optoelectronic Performance of Surface-Engineered Lead Halide Perovskite Nanocrystals

Harshita Bhatia et al.

Summary: Lead halide perovskites are promising materials, but their applicability is limited by their structural instability toward moisture. A recent study showed that the deliberate addition of water to the precursor solution improves their properties, however, near-unity quantum yield is still not achieved. In this research, we directly added a small amount of water to post-treated perovskites and found that it significantly enhanced their stability and achieved a 95% photoluminescence quantum yield in a thin film. We also uncovered the mechanism of how moisture assists in the formation of an additional component and the role of moisture in localized etching, leading to improved performance.

Amphiphilic Polymer Ligand-Assisted Synthesis of Highly Luminescent and Stable Perovskite Nanocrystals for Sweat Fluorescent Sensing

Yun Shu et al.

Summary: This study proposed a powerful ligand engineering strategy to eliminate surface defects and aggregation of CsPbBr3nanocrystals (NCs), improving their colloidal stability and fluorescence. The as-synthesized NCs with amphiphilic polymer-modified ligands exhibited high photoluminescence intensity and stability. Furthermore, the NCs showed enhanced water, photostability and thermal stability. Additionally, a colorimetric sensor based on these NCs was successfully constructed for the detection of chloride ions in sweat, enabling rapid, visual and accurate detection.

Quantum Efficiency Enhancement of Lead-Halide Perovskite Nanocrystal LEDs by Organic Lithium Salt Treatment

Tassilo Naujoks et al.

Summary: Surface-defect passivation is crucial for achieving high photo-luminescence quantum yield in lead halide perovskite nanocrystals. In addition, treatment with LiTFSI as a halide-free surface passivation on perovskite nanocrystals can lead to improved efficiency, longer exciton lifetime, and a more favorable radiation pattern for light outcoupling in LED devices.

Real-Time Blinking Suppression of Perovskite Quantum Dots by Halide Vacancy Filling

Lata Chouhan et al.

Summary: Despite the excellent optoelectronic properties of halide perovskites, defects such as halide vacancies can adversely affect their stability and durability. By using halide precursors to fill these vacancies, real-time suppression of nonradiative exciton recombination and photoluminescence blinking in perovskite quantum dots is achieved, leading to improved quantum efficiencies and lifetimes. Statistical analysis also reveals different types of blinking mechanisms in quantum dots before and after halide vacancy filling.

Summary: This study demonstrates the preparation of heterojunction perovskite microrods by optically controlled localized halide vacancy filling, leading to color tuning. By controlling the density of halide vacancies, the rate of nonradiative recombination of charge carriers in the crystal can be manipulated, which is beneficial for designing high-quality photovoltaic and optoelectronic devices based on perovskites.
