Preparation and identification of a biocompatible polymer composite: Shielding against the interference of electromagnetic waves

Zahra Ameri et al.

Summary: Hybrid composites containing Cu nanostructures, reduced graphene oxide, and polystyrene were developed for electromagnetic shielding applications. The addition of graphene oxide and polystyrene significantly improved the tensile strength and thermal stability of the composites. Furthermore, the inclusion of Cu nanostructures in the composites led to the formation of conductive polymer nanocomposites with electromagnetic interference shielding capabilities, primarily through a reflection mechanism.

Effects of Organic Vehicle on the Rheological and Screen-Printing Characteristics of Silver Paste for LTCC Thick Film Electrodes

Yujun Gao et al.

Summary: In this work, a low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) silver paste for fine-line screen-printing was developed by considering the effect of the organic vehicle on its rheological behavior and screen-printing properties. The selection and adjustment of organic solvents and organic binder content were carried out to optimize the viscosity and pseudoplasticity of the silver paste. The experimental results showed that the homemade silver paste exhibited good printability.

Recent development in silver-based ink for flexible electronics

Najwa Ibrahim et al.

Summary: Silver-based flexible printed electronics offer the potential for designing low-cost and eco-friendly products through versatile manufacturing processes. Conductive silver inks, using silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with unique physical and chemical properties, are commonly printed on flexible substrates. However, the extensive application of silver inks is often limited by factors such as complex ink preparation, conflicts between ink stability and nanoparticle content, overall ink formulation, and suitable sintering techniques. Nevertheless, advancements in nanotechnology and printing techniques have provided opportunities to enhance the synthesis, stability, processing, and application of silver inks. This review article discusses the progress in AgNPs processing, Ag-conductive ink formulation, important printing techniques, and the significance of sintering processes. It also highlights the importance of various sintering methods in improving ink quality and substrate adhesion, as well as notable applications of printed flexible electronics.

Soft-Tissue-Mimicking Using Hydrogels for the Development of Phantoms

Aitor Tejo-Otero et al.

Summary: It is difficult to mimic the mechanical properties of soft living tissues with currently available materials and technologies. The lack of information about the mechanical properties of these tissues is also a significant problem. The use of phantoms offers a promising solution to simulate biological bodies. This study tested a wide range of organs and hydrogels regarding their mechanical properties and found significant differences among the results for different soft tissues.

Design and Comparison of Magnetically-Actuated Dexterous Forceps Instruments for Neuroendoscopy

Andrew Lim et al.

Summary: Robot-assisted minimally invasive surgical techniques are common in general surgery, urology, and gynecology, but remain largely absent in surgical applications within narrow, confined workspaces due to the lack of small yet dexterous robotic tools. Researchers have proposed a surgical robot capable of operating within a neuroendoscopic working channel using a direct magnetically-driven end effector. This technology shows promise for manipulating tissue during minimally invasive neurosurgical procedures.
