Surface Defects Reinforced Polymer-Ceramic Interfacial Anchoring for High-Rate Flexible Solid-State Batteries

Yanda Fu et al.

Summary: In this study, a composite solid electrolyte (OV-LLZTO/PEO) is prepared by introducing LLZTO with surface defects into PEO, which forms a firmly bonded polymer-ceramic interface. This electrolyte membrane exhibits high mechanical strength, reduced interfacial resistance, and improved Li+ conductivity. Solid-state full-cells employing OV-LLZTO/PEO demonstrate excellent rate capability, power density, and capacity retention.

Scalable fabrication of solid-state batteries through high-energy electronic beam

Mengjun Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, an initiator-free, simple, clean and efficient technique-high-energy electronic beam (e-beam) irradiation--is used to in-situ prepare gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) for solid-state lithium metal batteries (LMBs). The obtained GPEs demonstrate satisfactory ionic conductivity, high lithium-ion transference number, and good electrochemical stability. Moreover, e-beam can directly transform liquid-state pouch cells to solid-state, enabling large-scale production of solid-state LMBs. This study holds great potential for the development of high-energy-density LMBs.

Lithium Ionic Conductive Mechanism in PEO Polymer Electrolytes Enhanced by Nano/Micron Size LLZO Fillers

Fei Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of LLZO ceramic fillers on the conductive mechanism of PEO matrix with different molecular weight. Nano LLZO enhances the conductivity of low molecular weight PEO electrolytes, while for high molecular weight PEO electrolytes, it mainly enhances the polymer segment motion by reducing crystallinity. Nano LLZO-HSPEs exhibit higher discharge capacity and cyclic performance in LiFePO4/Li batteries.

Role of Filler Content and Morphology in LLZO/PEO Membranes

Mir Mehraj Ud Din et al.

Summary: Polymer electrolytes containing Li-ion conducting fillers are extensively investigated for solid-state Li metal batteries. The study analyzed the influence of filler content and morphology on electrical and electrochemical properties, revealing that filler distribution affects crystallinity and Li-ion conductivity, rather than the participation of LLZO as an active transport mediator. Testing showed a critical current density of up to 1 mA cm(-2) for PEO membranes containing 10 wt% LLZO in symmetrical Li cells under certain conditions.
