Seismic and non-invasive geophysical surveys for the renovation project of Branciforte Palace in Palermo

Raffaele Martorana et al.

Summary: A multi-methodological and non-invasive geophysical study was conducted during the renovation project of the Branciforte Palace in Palermo. The study involved seismic characterization of the foundation soils and indoor geophysical surveys to assess the state of conservation of the floors and wall structures. Joint interpretations of seismic surveys carried out with different techniques allowed for a robust understanding of the foundation soils and the identification of structural voids and areas of subsidence. In addition, various techniques such as ground penetrating radar and ultrasonic tomography were used to evaluate the state of degradation of supporting columns and the differences in masonry and plaster.

FDEM and ERT measurements for archaeological prospections at Nuraghe S'Urachi (West-Central Sardinia)

Rita Deiana et al.

Summary: Nuraghe S'Urachi is a monumental architectural complex in West Central Sardinia that has been the subject of systematic and large-scale archaeological investigations since 1948. The preliminary results of the geophysical measurements provide new evidence to support new hypotheses and suggest possible future archaeological and geophysical strategies for investigating the unexcavated part of the site.

Application of Geophysical Methods in Archaeological Survey of Early Medieval Fortifications

Peter Milo et al.

Summary: This paper compares previous archaeological excavations with new data obtained through geophysical methods to assess the state and preservation of early medieval fortified sites. The use of non-destructive surveys provides valuable information about the internal structure and condition of the fortifications, allowing for a more comprehensive evaluation of archaeological excavation.
