Impact chains (IC) are used to capture hazard, vulnerability, and exposure factors that lead to specific risks. Challenges and opportunities for improving IC modeling include integrating dynamic feedback and stakeholder involvement. There is still limited understanding of systems, data, and uncertainties in quantifiable and executable models. Using IC to capture the underlying complex processes behind risk supports effective climate change adaptation.
