Synthesis of Hollow Mesoporous Silica Nanospheroids with O/W Emulsion and Al(III) Incorporation and Its Catalytic Activity for the Synthesis of 5-HMF from Carbohydrates

Anirban Ghosh et al.

Summary: We developed a cost-effective and green synthetic method to prepare controllable perforated hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles. The grafting of Al(III) onto the silica framework makes it an efficient solid acid catalyst. The Al-doped hollow MSNs showed higher catalytic efficiency compared to contemporary aluminosilicate frameworks.

Enhancing the stability of metal-organic framework via ligand modification: scalable synthesis and high selectivity of CO2 sorption property

Di-Ming Chen et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates how minor ligand modification can significantly enhance the chemical and physical stabilities, as well as the gas sorption property of a Cu(ii)-organic framework. Two new MOFs were successfully synthesized and characterized, showing similar pore shapes but different stabilities and gas uptake properties. MOF 2 with a double-walled framework exhibited better stability, moisture-resistance, and scalability, making it a promising candidate for gas sorption applications.

Varvara A. Drozd et al.

Summary: This study reports the asymmetric epoxidation of a series of olefinic substrates using sodium percarbonate oxidant in the presence of homogeneous catalysts based on Mn complexes with bis-amino-bis-pyridine ligands. The reaction proceeded with high yields and enantioselectivities, using low catalyst loadings. The epoxidation protocol is suitable for various types of substrates.

Comprehensive Review on Zeolite-Based Nanocomposites for Treatment of Effluents from Wastewater

Veena Sodha et al.

Summary: Access to clean water is essential for humans and animals, but water scarcity and contamination are global challenges. Wastewater contains pollutants that can cause health issues and environmental damage. Zeolites, with their adsorption and ion-exchange properties, have been used for pollutant removal, and their photocatalytic efficiency can be enhanced by doping with other materials.

Effect of catalyst support on cobalt catalysts for ethylene oligomerization into linear olefins

Alvin Jonathan et al.

Summary: The oligomerization activity of a carbon-supported cobalt oxide catalyst is nearly double when supported on a less oxidized carbon, and this difference is unrelated to the cobalt phase. The oxygen content and oxidized surface functional groups impact the activity, and increasing the support particle size has minimal effect on selectivities. A carbon support with fewer impurities plays a crucial role in enhancing oligomerization activity.

Synthesis of hierarchically porous zeolite TS-1 with small crystal size and its performance of 1-hexene epoxidation reaction

Min Zhang et al.

Summary: TS-1 is a typical microporous zeolite that may hinder the diffusion of reaction products and cause secondary side reactions. However, by creating hierarchical pores of micropores and mesoporous/macropores, the performance of TS-1 in heterogeneous catalytic reactions can be greatly improved.
