Evaluation of a Novel DNA Vaccine Double Encoding Somatostatin and Cortistatin for Promoting the Growth of Mice

Summary: Growth trait is crucial for livestock species’ economics. Although somatostatin DNA vaccine for enhanced growth has been developed, the effect remains unsatisfying. This study evaluated a novel eukaryotic dual expression vaccine, pIRES-S/CST14-S/2SS, in mice. The results showed that pIRES-S/CST14-S/2SS could effectively express CST and SS in GH3 cells, leading to lower GH and PRL levels. Mice immunized with pIRES-S/CST14-S/2SS vaccine exhibited higher levels of anti-SS antibodies and GH secretion, resulting in greater body weight gain. This study enhances our understanding of the relationship between somatostatin and cortistatin and may contribute to the development of effective growth-promoting DNA vaccines in animals.

Quaternized chitosan-coated liposomes enhance immune responses by co-delivery of antigens and resveratrol

Summary: This study developed a nanoparticle delivery system by encapsulating the immunomodulator resveratrol in quaternized chitosan-coated liposomes.
