Controlled Delivery of an Anti-Inflammatory Toxin to Macrophages by Mutagenesis and Nanoparticle Modification

Ayaka Harada et al.

Summary: Advances in drug delivery systems have allowed specific delivery of drugs to target cells. This study demonstrates the selective delivery of SubAB to macrophages and its anti-inflammatory effects by modifying it with PLGA nanoparticles. These findings provide a useful technique for protein delivery to macrophages and support the application of drug delivery systems in the treatment of inflammatory diseases.

Protein corona formation on silver nanoparticles under different conditions

Aysel Tomak et al.

Summary: Nanoparticle surfaces can be covered by biomolecules, forming a protein 'corona' that alters the characteristics and biological activity of the materials. The composition of the protein corona is dynamic, with initially bound abundant biomolecules being replaced by less abundant but more tightly bound ones. This study investigated the formation of the silver nanoparticle protein corona in cell culture media and found that the physiological environment directly affects the formation of the corona. Differences in the amount of bound proteins were observed depending on incubation conditions.

Listeria monocytogenes crosses blood brain barrier through Rho GTPases induced migration of macrophages and inflammatory interleukin expression

Ahmad Daniyal Shahid et al.

Summary: Listeria monocytogenes crossing the blood-brain barrier in the form of Trojan Horse is significant for bacterial encephalitis and meningitis. Increased expression of RhoA following infection may enhance macrophage migration and immune factor expression, possibly facilitating macrophages to cross the blood-brain barrier. This study lays groundwork for further exploration of the detailed mechanisms of Listeria monocytogenes crossing the blood-brain barrier.
