Numerical investigation of thermo-hydraulic performance utilizing clove-treated graphene nanoplatelets nanofluid in an annular passage with perforated curve fins

Yanru Wang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the thermo-hydraulic performance of finned annular conduits with varying hole numbers and configurations. The eight-hole configuration achieves the highest performance evaluation criteria (PEC) value and is suitable for laminar and transitional regions with Reynolds numbers lower than 4277. The use of CGNP nanofluid improves the heat transfer coefficient with negligible pressure drop.

Hydrothermal analysis of ethylene glycol nanofluid in a porous enclosure with complex snowflake shaped inner wall

A. K. Rostami et al.

Summary: This article simulates convective heat transfer of Al2O3 - ethylene glycol nanofluid in a porous medium under the influence of magnetic forces. The Boussinesq-Darcy law and thermal non-equilibrium model are applied, and the two-temperature model is utilized. The effects of Hartmann number, Rayleigh number, porosity, and volume fraction of the nanoparticle are investigated. The results show that the stream line is enhanced with the increase of Rayleigh number, but it decreases with the increase of Hartmann number and nanoparticle volume fraction. Additionally, the local Nusselt number is directly related to the nanoparticle volume fraction and Rayleigh number, but inversely related to the Hartmann number.

Thermal effects of nonuniform heating in a nanofluid-filled annulus: Buoyant transport versus entropy generation

M. Sankar et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the numerical aspects of buoyant convection and entropy generation of Al2O3-water nanofluid in a vertical annular configuration, exploring how specific parameters can enhance thermal transport while minimizing entropy production. The study suggests that phase deviation and amplitude ratio play critical roles in influencing thermal transport and entropy generation in comparison to other parameters.

Buoyant Convective Flow and Heat Dissipation of Cu-H2O Nanoliquids in an Annulus Through a Thin Baffle

B. Pushpa et al.

Summary: This article numerically investigates the buoyant convective flow and thermal transport enhancement of Cu-H2O nanoliquid in a differentially heated upright annulus having a thin baffle. The average Nu number is enhanced by adding Cu nanoparticles to the base liquid, and it is found that liquid flow and heat transport can be successfully controlled via the appropriate selection of baffle location and length. Specifically, a baffle length equal to 20% of the annular width placed at 80% of the annular height has been found to produce higher thermal transport rates compared to other choices of baffle lengths and positions.

Summary: A new modification involving the integration of a hollow tube for cold fluid inlet was proposed to enhance the performance of a shell and helically coiled heat exchanger. The modified heat exchanger design successfully regulated fluid flow, improving heat transfer efficiency. The experimental results showed an average difference of 8% between simulation and actual performance, with overall heat transfer coefficients ranging from 1600-3150 W/m(2)K for the shell side, and 5700-13,400 W/m(2)K for the coil side.
