Summary: Each year, the American Cancer Society compiles data on cancer occurrence and outcomes in the United States. The latest data shows that breast and prostate cancer progress has stagnated, while lung cancer has shown improvements in survival rates. Lung cancer incidence for advanced disease has declined while localized-stage rates have increased, resulting in higher survival rates. Mortality patterns align with incidence trends, with lung cancer deaths declining rapidly, breast cancer deaths slowing, and prostate cancer deaths stabilizing.

Hanwen Chen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects and mechanisms of physical activity on mobile phone addiction among college students. The findings showed that physical activity negatively predicted mobile phone addiction among university students, with social adaptation partially mediating the relationship between physical activity and mobile phone addiction. Psychological capital did not have an indirect effect on mobile phone addiction. The results suggest that improving physical activity levels, enhancing psychological capital, and promoting social adaptation are important ways to prevent mobile phone addiction among college students.

A Descriptive and Phenomenological Exploration of the Spiritual Needs of Chinese Children Hospitalized with Cancer

Qi Liu et al.

Summary: Spiritual well-being is an essential aspect of health, particularly for Chinese children hospitalized with cancer who are generally non-religious. Culture significantly influences their spiritual needs, which include self-exploration, inner needs, a connection with others, and a connection with gods or fictional characters. Hope plays a key role in motivating children to continue cancer treatment. Culturally specific interventions should be developed to address their unique spiritual needs and enhance their spiritual well-being.
