Influence of thermal cycling on the optical and the electrical properties of atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposited tin oxide films grown using water and methanol vapors as oxidizers

Christos Petaroudis et al.

Summary: Tin oxide films were chemically vapor deposited at atmospheric pressure using SnCl4 and water or methanol as precursors. The morphology of the films, granular in nature, influenced their optical and electrical properties. Films deposited with methanol vapor showed higher transparency and conductivity compared to those deposited with water vapor, while thermal cycling resulted in atomic rearrangements impacting the properties.

Impact of boron and indium doping on the structural, electronic and optical properties of SnO2

Petros-Panagis Filippatos et al.

Summary: Tin dioxide (SnO2) is widely used in optoelectronics due to its non-toxicity, high stability, and electron transport capability. Doping SnO2 with boron (B) and indium (In) is an effective way to decrease the band gap and enhance photocatalytic potential. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations show the creation of energy states near the conduction band through p-type doping, with significant band gap decrease in substitutional doping.
