Quantifying and simulating carbon and nitrogen mineralization from diverse exogenous organic matters

Florent Levavasseur et al.

Summary: This study quantified the C and N mineralization of 663 EOMs from five groups and found significant variability in mineralization within and between EOM subgroups. Individual EOM calibration of the model produced the best performance, while a unique parameter set per EOM subgroup decreased model performance and using two EOM characteristics for parameter estimation yielded intermediate results.

Soil organic carbon and clay content as deciding factors for net nitrogen mineralization and cereal yields in boreal mineral soils

Helena Soinne et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the roles of soil texture and organic matter in nitrogen mineralization and crop yield levels. The research found that in clay soils, net nitrogen mineralization was negatively correlated with the clay/C ratio, while in coarse-textured soils, agronomic nitrogen use efficiency improved with increasing soil organic carbon content. Clay soils with high clay content are at risk of low yield levels.

Effect of Date Biochar Pyrolyzed at Different Temperature on Physiochemical Properties of Sandy Soil and Wheat Crop Response

Hafiz Muhammad Rashad Javeed et al.

Summary: Low temperature pyrolysis biochar (LTDB) can enhance wheat biomass and water-holding capacity when applied with NPK fertilizer, and also positively impact soil enzyme activities. In incubation studies, LTDB improves soil physicochemical properties and water retention, as compared to high-temperature biochar pyrolysis (HTDB).
