Orphan nuclear receptor ERR-γ regulates hepatic FGF23 production in acute kidney injury

Summary: The study showed a link between high circulating FGF23 levels and disease progression and mortality in acute kidney injury patients. Through research in FA-induced AKI mice, it was discovered that IL-6 and ERR-gamma regulate the production of FGF23 in the liver, with an inverse agonist of ERR-gamma potentially serving as a therapeutic strategy to reduce adverse plasma FGF23 levels in AKI.
